Let the Year Begin

Spotted these tops in Sainsburys Hayes for Leen & Celine.. 

they have a Belgium look to the scene and we have some English words too! You know I like to keep all the languages alive and active as this will help their future.  I enjoy learning with them too. 

Family Link Up has had the most amazing time together over the years. I personally have learned so much with my befriending of the Family spread between Turkey and parts of Europe... This New Year and New Decade we continue to rebuild lives in the countries that have offered safety and new life. 

My family are linked up with them and love the energy and updates of the project.  I spent Christmas day with my family here in west London and Errin my youngest granddaughter had got some art pens some of which had a whole range of skin complexion colours.. 

So I have ordered these for Boshra to work with too..plus some watercolour brush pens.   The order had a card in with some face art and we will be looking at marketing Boshras art work this year too in all shapes and forms.  I am also keeping a look out on the Royal Academy of Arts site for when the portal opens for Summer exhibition entries to submit some of Boshras work.

Today got film footage of Adam in his Christmas suit that I got from Debenhams in Uxbridge and with Paddington bear.  Adam is Asma's son the little nephew of Boshra... If you remember from my post before Christmas we sent this out in a joint parcel from Belgium to Germany when I was with Boshra on the last visit.  I hope one day we can all meet up.

Art Appeal ready for Sales

Its now a week since I have returned from Belgium after a very magical visit with the family - a perfect Christmas present from my daughters.

While I have been with Boshra we have been working on draft logo for business cards and website... as you are our supporters we are giving you a preview of the idea developing ... 

The Crying Eye ... the teardrop is the art palette which will have colours in a final piece though we will have some trial versions.... The art palette and brush are symbolic of the tears of pain from war being healed and brushed away with art. Art that is helping Boshra re connect with herself....
Her art signature will be in English script and in a flourish of Arabic script, the true sound of her name is Boushra...

On my visit we were hunting around Oostende for art scanning printers to make quality jpegs and mounted prints of her work for sale. I was impressed with the traders networking their interest in her project and recommendation of who would be the best to help her...

I also some photos and dimensions of work that we will submit in January's portal to be judged for the Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition..

Last week I  had some more funds from commission on a customer order from my Marjorie's Yard Independent NYR consultant online ordering .... so that has added to the fundraising ..

Love of books

Last week (can you think that one week ago I was with the girls) I spotted a couple of books in Oostende looking at Oma Grandma and Opa Grandpa bears so got them for Leen and Celine to help with reading Dutch and to remember their grandmas and grandpas..  I left them all set out with more chocolate coins before leaving and so they would have something funn to come home to from school.  Boshra said they were pleased but sad I was not there asking Where is Marjorie.  We have since had skype calls and I cannot wait to get back in the New Year when I can grab a bargain Eurostar ticket.  Been a strange time in the UK with a bizarre election and wondering if our voices can ever be heard. Also with an overwhelming result that shouted for Getting Brexit done.  So sad for me and others with family, friends and business connections in Europe. I pray it will all work out.  Yesterday I felt like doing something with fun and so went to see Sleeping Beauty at our Local Beck theatre... One of my favourite celebrities was playing the good fairy, Debbie McGee... it was fun and ironically was empty seats aside me enough for Leen & Celine and my grand children too... I missed having them with me but was crazy alone grandma and was up and dancing with the kids and shouting Behind you!  I the foyer there was a sale and I got a copy of Sleeping Beauty for the girls.

I do love sharing with Leen and teaching in a fun way. The picture below is from a girlie magazine I had bought in Oostende.. Leen is smart with her logic problem solving games. I am so impressed. That day she and Celine had their one world fancy tops on too!

Magical ballet

Oh my was this magical for us to go to the ballet together. We got all excited on Sunday getting ready and was practising some points of our toes before we set off to the Kursaal to watch the Nutcracker. The Nutcracker is always a ballet full of Christmas magic but it was magic in the auditorium with Princess Leen. She may have been sat on a seat watching the dancers but her mind and spirit was WITH the dancers on the stage. It was an amazing privilege to watch her as she took in every step and every note of the music. Her little body swaying and making some of the shapes and forms of the dance; and her little voice humming sweetly to the pieces of music she knew. Music she knew from her magic Story book of the Orchestra Nutcraker with "press to hear" music....A book I had got her and we studied together.  I was overwhelmed with tears of joy watching her and knowing all the journey this little life has had to now being able to pursue her inborn love of dance and music.  I felt humbled and privileged to be part of her life. She is my life as indeed all the family I cannot rest till their lives are fully healed and rebuilt. They give me strength and hope that love for one another in this world does win. The basis of many a theme for ballet stories when you think!  Love is Key!

Ice skating

I am writing this blogpost on my return from a very magical time with the family in Belgium. Leen loved watching the ice skating and taking all in from the Winter in the Park   She was laughing at the speed.... and the falls of skaters and so wanted to join in ... but I am not a skater lol I am a white knuckler hanging on the side rail with legs splaying like Bambi hhhhh We were on the way to the ballet so this was only a tastier of the Winter in the Park Wonderland, the event is scheduled up to 5th of January.
