Skype Link

This morning had one of my precious skype link ups with the Boshra, Princess Leen and Princess Celine. Thank goodness for skype and the internet.  But I am really ready for visiting them.  I would love to get to see them before Christmas and doing some shopping together in Belgium for all that they need for the winter months.  Also we need funds to get to Turkey for Dante and his mother for the winter and to help with their local community.  

So lots to do but at the moment have no resources to do this.... I am reliant on the kindness of your donations and to help me fund-raise.  As you see I am a direct link up so you know all that I do benefits the family direct and the community around them.  I continue to write around for grants and funding and apply for paid posts to help with this project.

Reunion after 3 years apart

There is a good news story developing.... in that one of Dante's sisters Asma has got her papers to join her husband in Germany.  Today Dante was able to see his sister off at Istanbul airport... I wish I could have gone to be with them and share in this... as I know now Dante will be exhausted and full of mixed feelings happiness for her but such turmoil a close knit family being now scattered, so sad too.  I know it will come easier soon for all when they all have passports, work, financial freedom and able to travel like the rest of us to visit family where ever they are...... How amazing this today that husband and wife get to be together again after 3 years apart from war and fleeing...... I hope I can get funding soon to travel to visit them and to report... just as I would like to visit all of them too and assess needs..... I did at least have some time on skype as they travelled to Istanbul on the bus.... so did feel part of the journey... Dante will return to be with his mother and younger brother and other sister in the next few days in south Turkey..... and fill them in on today's farewell... we all look forward to Asma sending some photos from Germany.

Poetry arrived ...

Oh this is great quite moved with this..... the poetry I wrote dedicated to Princess Leen in the Hillingdon Literary Festival Brunel University has arrived.... I sent the book with some goodies and it is finally there in Belgium in the camp.... she is so so excited and pleased.  Boshra is going to keep this for her when she is older to see how much love surrounds her in the Family Link Up... The piece I have written is from my first seeing her in Suleman Shah camp Turkey to me meeting her in Eleonas Camp Athens.

Princess Leen

Leen enjoying the crayons and drawing books I have sent.  Good to see the spotty jumper bargain I got from our local TKmax now fits her... it is nice as it has some sparkle to it. lol and below Princess Leen the director as she calls some of the other children in the camp together...  We need to get warm winter clothes for them in Belgium and in Turkey, they need food and in Turkey they will need wood for the stove wood burners.... Can you help me prepare them before the winter sets in.....? I would love to go and visit too.

Leen in the 2017 Literary Festival..

The Family Link up project is getting well recognised at the Brunel University Hillingdon Literary Festival. Dante and his family now familiar to the creative writing department.  Last year we had Dante's work published "Umbilical Cord to Motherland"... and this year I put together a poem on Princess Leen his delightful little niece. This is a glimpse of the work in the theme of "Ordinary People Exceptional Lives..."

October Appeal

So here we are 1st October and the seasons already showing change... Please can you help me get some funds for winter clothing and food plus school equipment.   I am busy trying to get a parcel ready again for Boshra and the family in Belgium and I would like to give some help to the Belgium Red Cross too for all the good work they do with the refugees.   I am grateful to a friend last week sending some funds to help with Dante in Turkey but we need more to get them through the winter and all the demands ahead.  I am as you know a direct hand to hand link up.  In fact my friend saw this as was able to join me in a skype call to Dante here at my home.  Be part of the story with me and if we can get a good team of fundraisers we can send more befrienders out to care for the rebuild of family lives.  There are so many problems and issues to help with to keep the hope focus on that rebuild of lives.
