Profile: A keen interest in all the life sciences led me to develop a career in nursing and midwifery, where I could apply my knowledge and skills into the caring professions. I have optimized my experience and knowledge in all areas I have worked in. I have been able to apply myself in research, teaching and the publication of articles. I enjoy online communication and I am IT agile with a full appreciation of this medium for business and networking. I write and run information blogs. I am committed to personal development. I enjoy developing others in knowledge, confidence & coping strategies this includes learners, staff and patients under my supervision and care. I can work alone, or part of a team or managing a team. I am building my language skills in French, Arabic, German, Turkish & Greek. I also speak little Hindi from working with the British Asian community.
Key achievements and skills:
  • Gained 7 O levels & 2 A levels in Human Biology & Sociology.
  • Developed from Enrolled nurse to Registered Nurse then studied and gained BSc in Nursing Studies with a Diploma in Business Studies after the second year.
  • Gained a wide range of experience in both medical and surgical nursing.
  • Studied counselling skills which has been usefully applied in areas of my work experiences for both patients and staff.
  • Achieved midwifery qualification and practiced in teaching hospitals with a passion for cultivating confidence in the mothers to achieve a good normal birthing experience and supported high risk caseloads with my nursing background in HDU and OT cases.
  • Successfully rejuvenated a research project on the mode of delivery of Oxytocin with increased recruitment to the study through the education & motivation of staff.
  • Planned and delivered innovative teaching methods on the Access to Higher Education – Health Pathway providing sessions lasting a full day a week.
Career break to retirement Feb 2014 – ongoing
  • During this time have been active on Domestic and International issues including attending parliament as lobbyist and in committee meetings. · Attended APPG meetings in Parliament for Syria and Refugees. · Attended Parliamentary committee meetings on domestic violence and failing of CPS · Attended Parliamentary committee meeting on UK relations with Turkey.
  • Counselled online a Syrian refugee through post-traumatic stress. Written an article on clinical findings and my refugee had some creative work published by Brunel University London. We have since worked together on writing up reports on an array of situations from the frontline.
  • Set up a Family Link Up project for the Syrian family now scattered between Turkey, Greece and Germany. With this have been able to help other families in their communities. Visited Refugees in Turkey and Greece to support with permitted stay in Eleonas Camp in Athens. Looking for funding, donations, grants and sponsors to develop this to full potential over the next years of need to rebuild lives.
  • Mentored a BSc Nursing student online from the Islamic University Gaza who successful graduated and is now studying for an MSc.
  • Studied and passed 6 weeks course on Human Rights for Open Societies Utrecht University Holland. · Presently studying online International law – Leiden University & Children’s Human Rights - Geneva University through coursera.org.
