Leen needs school clothes. Boshra needs some furniture particularly beds as they are sleeping on the floor at the moment. There is a reasonable furniture store near where they are housed. So we can give the local trader some business if there is the funds to purchase. We need to get some baking things for the new home kitchen and do some baking together :-) Stock the freezer up for the coming months. Can we do this together dear helpers? let me know of ideas such as coffee mornings and sponsored runs or cycles... anything that can help this project

Schoolwork

What an amazing evening I have had...here in Hayes West London chatting to Boshra in Belgium.. She has sent me photos of Leen today with some artwork from her school in Belgium.... it reminds me of being with her in the Eleonas Camp and the camp school - she has always enjoyed learning and artwork.. so so proud of her..... What I am doing is trying to set up some links with a local school here.... we can help students learn from one another to be a Global Family Link Up through flipgrid and skype lessons... I have had some experience this evening of helping local children with homework to make me aware of the tuition needs. I have always enjoyed seeing students blossom in knowledge - teaching has been my life as a nurse and midwife you see - we have to teach students and educate the public so always have enjoyed sharing knowledge. I have been in contact with the Dept of Education and been given a mentor who sees I have a lot to offer and some good ideas......but so have students too - we have a lot of sparky children to appreciate and encourage.... just like Leen who still impresses me with her language skills speaking now 4 languages.........we surely will learn to be a Global family and care for one another and this Earth...

I see Boshra has managed to get a mattress but still needs beds and furniture.... I wish I could get out to see her to assess her needs...and find resources to help her.

Parcels off to Turkey & another ready for Belgium

I finished the Unicorn cardigan for Princess Leen last night - in fact was up late stitching the unicorn on that I got from Uxbridge and the really brilliant buttons I got for the theme from Liberty London Pleased with the effect now.  So got this to send with the other cardigan.  Lulu Blanche has been "helping" me to measure the knitting.. she was in a playful mood. The children in both Belgium and Turkey love my pet cats and enjoy seeing them on skype.

I am grateful to a friend giving me a donation to get the postage sorted for both Turkey and Belgium. Plus I was able to get a some goodies ordered and sent direct to Boshra in Belgium from Bettys a good order of some cakes, biscuits and chocolates as treats.. and also something nice to offer any friends that Boshra may have calling round for tea and talk. 

These are the baby clothes and blanket on the way to Turkey. The UNHCR as been tweeting the importance to now prepare for the coming winter months... I hope with more donations I can get more warm clothes sent out.

Knitwear love continues

I have finished another couple of cardigans to send out ... One for Leen in Belgium and one for little Ahmed in Turkey. It is therapeutic for me while I am feeling tied down unable to get the funds to travel to see at them all.  I have been getting ill with this frustration with a further stress that I am one of the 1950s born women that cannot get our State Pension you can read more on our rally on my Cup of Tea Share & Care blog. My Syrian family call it our Granny Revolution and are concerned for me and others hurting with this situation. 

 I managed to get into London in the week to meet with a friend from Cumbria that was down on business. Gill and her sister try to help me as they can with the family link up.  While I was in London nipped into Liberty's for some buttons for the cardigans. some fun spotty ones for Leens cardigan and the I love you buttons for Ahmed... so cute and not expensive.  But in all honesty wish I could see the button man again from the canal fair in May Bank holiday as his stall was full of fun hand made buttons. I was telling the staff at Liberty about him shame they could not get a contract with him.  But the sale assistant was interested in my Family Link Up project and promised to look at this blog. 

 Another cardigan on the go which I will make into a Unicorn theme for Leen.

Production line continues

 Finished the blue cardigan for the girls in Belgium.. just need to find some wacky colourful buttons to match the spot embroidery on the bottom... Now on with a lovely cardigan pattern for Ahmed in Turkey.

One of my younger neighbours is getting hooked on knitting after seeing my productions so I am going to teach her.... we can team up to knit for her family and my Family Link Up too.... may even take orders when we can get clicking away...This is what I would like to do with Boshra too - teach her to knit and read patterns... So we can all become productive.  Of course the Syrian women in Turkey in Dantes community are very creative so could become a production line... Where there is a will there is a way to survive and rebuild lives. It was funny early this evening had on facebook Dante, Boshra, my daughter Nicola and my neighbour round in the house so we all had a laugh together. I have another neighbour that says she has her grand childrens clothes that she would like to donate to the Family Link Up... Good word getting around that I have the Family Link Up project. 
Update on girls in Belgium - Boshra says all well now after change of season cold and fevers.. Leen was able to have week in school. Boshra has shown the teacher my letter.  But as yet not had an email from the school.

Girls got fever with colder weather

 Just been facebook chatting with Boshra - I had been wondering where she was and was worried about her... Seems this week been difficult as the girls got colds with the change of weather and feverish. Now Boshra feels it too.. I am grateful to the local doctor helping them. Leen not been able to go to school.  It is so frustrating not having the funds to go and help them.  Boshra was telling me the peach jumper has arrived and she says it is really pretty... I have more knitting on the go and found a good pattern book with design from baby to 7 yrs. The knitting helps me as I have shared with you before it is my way of hugging them with my love.. Each stitch is filled with love from me. 

Got this lovely wool too and spotted a unicorn motive - I know this will please Leen if I can put on a jumper or cardi for her.

Midnight knitting plus amazing business kid

More knitting on the go with some of the bargain 4ply from the AGE UK shop..I have been awake past couple of nights so been knitting in the night! I do miss the girls and their mum, Boshra and so would love to visit them. I am desperate to find ways of gathering funds to not only visit but help rebuild lives.  There are a number of practical goods that the family need to help them. Today was watching our ITV lunchtime news and there was a piece on the young boy that is earning from doing toy reviews online ITV Seven year old boy toy reviews  he has become a millionaire with this over the last couple of years as his followers increase and Walmart given him a contract too..! Ryan ToysReview channel  Wow! this would be wonderful if Leen and Celine could do something similar and Ahmad in Turkey... lol they would definitely enjoy this.... I have if you have been following my posts even approached Children's clothing companies to see if they can model .. and to help keep a positive spotlight on the need for the refugees to rebuild their lives.  Please contact me if you have any ideas as it is so frustrating hitting up against blocks when there is so much good that can be done..with this help to link up traders and many benefit from us linking up as a Global Family to help one another.
