Its now a week since I have returned from Belgium after a very magical visit with the family - a perfect Christmas present from my daughters.

While I have been with Boshra we have been working on draft logo for business cards and website... as you are our supporters we are giving you a preview of the idea developing ... 

The Crying Eye ... the teardrop is the art palette which will have colours in a final piece though we will have some trial versions.... The art palette and brush are symbolic of the tears of pain from war being healed and brushed away with art. Art that is helping Boshra re connect with herself....
Her art signature will be in English script and in a flourish of Arabic script, the true sound of her name is Boushra...

On my visit we were hunting around Oostende for art scanning printers to make quality jpegs and mounted prints of her work for sale. I was impressed with the traders networking their interest in her project and recommendation of who would be the best to help her...

I also some photos and dimensions of work that we will submit in January's portal to be judged for the Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition..

Last week I  had some more funds from commission on a customer order from my Marjorie's Yard Independent NYR consultant online ordering .... so that has added to the fundraising ..

Lets together make the New Year New Decade a successful rebuild of her life for her family.

Love of books

Last week (can you think that one week ago I was with the girls) I spotted a couple of books in Oostende looking at Oma Grandma and Opa Grandpa bears so got them for Leen and Celine to help with reading Dutch and to remember their grandmas and grandpas..  I left them all set out with more chocolate coins before leaving and so they would have something funn to come home to from school.  Boshra said they were pleased but sad I was not there asking Where is Marjorie.  We have since had skype calls and I cannot wait to get back in the New Year when I can grab a bargain Eurostar ticket.  Been a strange time in the UK with a bizarre election and wondering if our voices can ever be heard. Also with an overwhelming result that shouted for Getting Brexit done.  So sad for me and others with family, friends and business connections in Europe. I pray it will all work out.  Yesterday I felt like doing something with fun and so went to see Sleeping Beauty at our Local Beck theatre... One of my favourite celebrities was playing the good fairy, Debbie McGee... it was fun and ironically was empty seats aside me enough for Leen & Celine and my grand children too... I missed having them with me but was crazy alone grandma and was up and dancing with the kids and shouting Behind you!  I the foyer there was a sale and I got a copy of Sleeping Beauty for the girls.

I do love sharing with Leen and teaching in a fun way. The picture below is from a girlie magazine I had bought in Oostende.. Leen is smart with her logic problem solving games. I am so impressed. That day she and Celine had their one world fancy tops on too!

Magical ballet

Oh my was this magical for us to go to the ballet together. We got all excited on Sunday getting ready and was practising some points of our toes before we set off to the Kursaal to watch the Nutcracker. The Nutcracker is always a ballet full of Christmas magic but it was magic in the auditorium with Princess Leen. She may have been sat on a seat watching the dancers but her mind and spirit was WITH the dancers on the stage. It was an amazing privilege to watch her as she took in every step and every note of the music. Her little body swaying and making some of the shapes and forms of the dance; and her little voice humming sweetly to the pieces of music she knew. Music she knew from her magic Story book of the Orchestra Nutcraker with "press to hear" music....A book I had got her and we studied together.  I was overwhelmed with tears of joy watching her and knowing all the journey this little life has had to now being able to pursue her inborn love of dance and music.  I felt humbled and privileged to be part of her life. She is my life as indeed all the family I cannot rest till their lives are fully healed and rebuilt. They give me strength and hope that love for one another in this world does win. The basis of many a theme for ballet stories when you think!  Love is Key!

Ice skating

I am writing this blogpost on my return from a very magical time with the family in Belgium. Leen loved watching the ice skating and taking all in from the Winter in the Park   She was laughing at the speed.... and the falls of skaters and so wanted to join in ... but I am not a skater lol I am a white knuckler hanging on the side rail with legs splaying like Bambi hhhhh We were on the way to the ballet so this was only a tastier of the Winter in the Park Wonderland, the event is scheduled up to 5th of January.

Christmas visit saturday update

 Woweee busy days ..managing to get set goals achieved too... well pleased my ballet cardigans fit and one for older Syrian friend too. Been to ballet class this morning..lol all grandmas and me desperate to watch our cuties in tutus..but class rules no parents, so hand coffee in sports hall cafe and was watching tennis class ...Amazing teacher was like ballet teaching body positions and shapes to reach and return ball. Impressive class.

 We have been seeing Santa but in Belgium has different name is the Patron Saint of Children I am going to write more on this later. But so impressed with the gifts for children at the local social centre.. So much care went in to choosing age presents...lol Celines pressie as big as her..Dolls... and Leen got toy kitchen the juicer worked so we made orange juice.

 The Age UK hats on smoothies came in useful as egg cosies.  The girls loved them and encourages eating boiled eggs. I got fresh local farm eggs in the market.

 Love the mini rickshaw buggy for the bicycles..Papa cycles girls two and from school in cold weather. There is a space for school bags in the back too....was funny listening to the girls chattering  in the buggy..

We have been making pompoms with kits that Josie gave us from Age UK..and today been doing comic book puzzles..I managed to get a parcel posted to Asma in Germany and baby Adam so picked up puzzle  comics from post office shop. I have been seeing Asma and Adam on Skype Adam using walker now..strong little big man .....and been seeing the childrens grandma in Turkey on Skype..so she sees all we do and feels involved...As I am a Grandma I know she is missing her grand children...so important my befriending to help link them and do all the grandma things that she would be doing.

Boshra has been working on her art signature and it looks impressive mix of English & Arabic script.. we have a very powerful symbolic logo for business cards and website..Yesterday we went on the hunt for printers..my Belgium friend gave me addresses.. so impressed with Oostende business fraternity..if one cannot do they refer and recommend another.. love business networking like this..  I met a printer that copies architect plans..ohhh that took me back to my days as 15yr old first job as office junior in Mary D Wales firm of architects Skipton Castle gateway....I used to reproduce plans on light sensitive paper in massive machine..the Belgium printer remembered those machines..lool a live fossil crazy English woman history sharing hhhhh
Boshra is pleased with the acrylics from Bovilles Uxbridge and yesterday she bought some cavases.. We doing well in this concentrated timespan..

Christmas begins with Family Link Up

 Thank you Eurostar for bargain seats to help me visit the family in Belgium. Met some interesting people on the way. Kind people to help me on & off with bags. Everywhere festive.

I am so happy the girls ballet wrap round cardigans fit that I knit up and there is one extra for their Syrian friend who is also going to ballet class..

Tomorrow Boshra is at level 2 Dutch class in the morning and art class in the afternoon. I will track down art scanner for prints of her artwork and shop in the market for fresh local food.. Busy day..

December excitement

I have just finished another Ballet cardigan so that Leen can give as a gift to the other Syrian little girl that is also going to Ballet class... I am travelling tomorrow to see them all..

I have missed them so much but love our Skype calls. My family have treated me to the travel as part of my Christmas gift.. and we have had some funds for some gifts for the Children and some art materials for Boshra too. I will be focusing on Boshra's art getting dimensions for the January submission portal for the Royal Academy of Arts and looking at getting good scans and photos for quality prints.

The girls went to see St Nicholas on Sunday. It will be fun for me to see the festive season in Belgium and visit the markets there.

The Little Children's Travel Pad I got as it has some fun games in that can build on logic and will be good for us to vocabulary build in the target languages of English Arabic and Dutch I got this at Waterstones in Uxbridge.

My daughter and me spotted this Magic Pad advertised on TV so yesterday we got one for the girls from Wilkinson's in Yiewsley - the assistant was saying they are selling well for Christmas... So much I can do with the girls on this as we develop writing and drawing skills. 

I did well yesterday with a selection of art materials from Boville & Wright Uxbridge as they had a sale on. I have got some calligraphy pens as we will be working on creating a signature logo for Boshra over the next few days together.
