Fun energy around today

Eid Mubarak to all. Today been a lovely day for me even though the girls in Belgium and I am in West London. I had a very interesting morning in the Civic Centre attending a workshop on Climate Change then went over to my daughters and grandchildren... but on the way stopped in the park and asked one of the mothers if they would take a photo of me acting daft on the springy elephant in the kids park.. for a laugh to send to Leen and Celine.... They loved the fun of this and Boshra sent me a film of the girls enjoying a fair in Belgium... so they were on the roundabout....  Our link up through facebook messenger it so wonderful.... Shukran Allah for the link up and social media technology!

Kitty, my little Indian friend that visits her grandma down the road from me...as just called in to see me with her Harry Porter cloak on! lol She love watching the footage of the fairground and we have a good mood around us all. There are festivals going on for Indians too! Good to share as a Global Family.

Sparkle energy today as parcel & kitty's letter arrive

Lovely day today with my Family Link Up as the parcel Kitty and me made up the last week and posted as arrived. The girls are so happy with the letter and picture from Kitty their new Indian friend from my neighbourhood.  You can see the delight in this.. It reminds me of when I had penfriends as a little girl... but wowee does modern day skype make a big link up difference.  Boshra and the girls are thrilled with their photos framed.... and they love the yummy lekker biscuits from our local Coop..... actually all my family are enjoying those biscuits my daughter and grandkids love them too... 

I like the picture below that I got from Asma's facebook timeline in Germany she is just a creative as her brother Dante in Turkey and Boshra her sister... all have an eye for art.  I have used the image for the powerpoint slide background in the above collage updates.

Art Material link up

While I was out walking today I was thinking of Boshra's art work and wondering how to help her more... then I had a realisation - The colours in the Triangular Faces piece were from the water colour palette I got from the V&A shop during in the Refugee Week.

I have just asked Boshra and she says yes they were what she used.

I must make the V&A team aware of what has happened and how we have had an Art Material link up.

New Month New Goals New Energy

Been a time of sparkle with my new found little friend Kitty and her little sister Angel in my neighbourhood. They and her family are getting more and more interested in my Syrian family link up.  Kitty drew a picture for Leen and Celine and wrote a letter defining me as like a grandma to Family Link Up. (I think that is quite true!) It was so sweet... so we have posted this along with a parcel with some favourite biscuits and the photo prints that I got framed for Boshra to put on the sideboard. 

Celine was unable to sleep the other night so Boshra skyped me and we had a chat and play with the cat and the teddy over skype. I had a lovely photo from Asma in Germany of Adam who is filling out and growing by the day.. he was playing with a teddy I had sent in an parcel before he was born... if you remember my post... it was a teddy from Zoe the florist near me....  So good to link up. 

I have spotted bargain seats again on the Eurostar for September, so feel happy I have a booking to go and see Leen start Ballet School and Boshra Art school.

I have been out and about today marketing and sharing the word on my project as I really do need some more funds to help... We have also EID festival and both families in Belgium and Turkey will need to buy extra food. For Asma in Germany it would be good to send some treats and some baby clothes and toys for Adam... 
We will also need some funds for art materials for Boshra and for Gade in Turkey. Everything we raise and send gets put to good cause with foundation building for future self sufficiency.  Dante needs some financial help with his degree course too.....

Triangular Faces

Boshra produced some more fascinating artwork last night.  She sent me the jpeg of her work in the night.  I am totally intrigued by this piece...and so are my daughters and one of the local councillors.... Even this evening I showed it to a new friend in the neighbourhood, a lovely 8 yrs old girl called Kitty that comes to talk with me.  A girl with a future plan to be a nurse so as I am a retired nurse/midwife we enjoy chatting together.... I have been inspired by some words to fit this artwork from a conversation I had with Kitty over the artwork. We both could see the pain in the eyes.. Perhaps we are reading the work with our nurse empathy to the situation Boshra has been through with the war in Syria. Definitely the artwork carries the experience.. The art is therapeutic for Boshra and reconnects her to a creative side of her being.

Kitty my new friend had a lovely experience this evening from Hayes we skyped Belgium and she met Boshra, Celine and Leen.  They all clicked together and we were using the skype apps to cover with flower princess crowns and we all blew kisses to one another.  Lovely Link Up...

Language Learning together

So ready for another visit to Belgium but until I can travel though I am in London and Boshra is in Belgium I am reading Dutch to help us both. We are skype calling and have some fun time sharing.  Last night Boshra skyped me as the girls were struggling with the heatwave and prickly heat rashes.... so we had some time calming them and ended up giggling as we shared ice cream together. Yes shared ice cream as they had a cornetto there and I had a Unicorn cornetto here so we had fun over the skype yummy eating and giggling. 

Here are some of the language slides I have been preparing for Boshra from my reading..Language Learning through Libelle

I am working with Boshra to build up our Dutch vocabulary and of course she is building up on her English on the way too... I am building on my Arabic too.  I personally am so fascinated with the Belgium magazine Libelle there are some very interesting and well written articles. Articles, that I enjoy cracking open the language to reveal the stories and information therein.  I am building up some powerpoint slides to jpeg to send to Boshra in messenger while we are apart me in London and she in Belgium... But when we are together we enjoy sitting with my tablet and google translating together to get into the know.  

Language Learning through Libelle

I have some more slides below from an hard copy of the magazine. There was a very good array of life stories for me to translate and whilst I have picked on a sad story I felt it important for some vocabulary on feelings around sadness and life tragedies to help Boshra be able to communicate her story too.  In this copy of the magazine I found an amazing story about a very dedicated midwife her life an inspiration so much so I felt that to highlight her to the Royal College of Midwives in the hope she will be invited to speak at one of the conferences. 

I am also looking out for more language learning material for the girls too.. Finding some good resources in the local Islamic shop that can be used for any target language... and of course the build of their Arabic. 

 The Arabic times table practice and wipe is brilliant too for the girls and ME to  practice Arabic numbers!

Summer Update

The girls been enjoying the summer weather. Celine keeping cool with ice-cream and they have both been playing with bubbles... Wish I could be with them.  Leen was talking to me on skype and she misses me having learning fun together.  She has been remembering her numbers and the simple maths we did together. She is very smart and I love having time with her - the spin off is Celine learns from Leen too. Two lovely girls. 

I am hoping to pick up on more Eurostar seat bargains..and one of my grand-daughters would like to come too for her 18th Birthday.  We are trying to work out dates as we also have an additional worry in that my daughter Debbie needs another renal operation.  So we will have to prioritise being around for her op and recovery.  All the family in Family Link Up are keeping her in their thoughts and prayers.  Debbie is amazing in her coping. We had a lovely evening together last night with one of those groupon spa bargains and shared the time on messenger to Boshra.  Got an idea for Boshra's art too - What about we see if we can get a commission for her work at some hotels, spas and restaurants.. This week I attended my first Anglo-Belgian Society meeting in London which I enjoyed. Loved meeting some of the young interns from the embassy. We had a good time sharing on their dreams for the future and they loved hearing about my Family Link Up... One of the Belgium interns I hope to meet up with on my next visit to Belgium and introduce to Boshra and the girls. 

I was telling them I am so impressed with the Dutch course and integration of refugees and migrants course. So wonderful to see mothers from around the world communicating in Dutch together. Good community feeling and building.

I have had some photos from Asma in Germany of baby Adam who is doing well and was wearing one of the vests I got from Debenham's Uxbridge. Looking smart!

I also had a photo of Hamid in Turkey who is so hoping I can visit him some day soon too his mum was saying. 

Dante has been busy preparing for university too...So this is my update for the beginning of July.
