September update

Busy doing some more knitting for the girls in Belgium. This 4ply wool is nice to knit with and was a bargain in the local Age UK shop. Good to help their charity too.
I also spotted this nice top that had been preloved and still lot of wear in it.

Boshra got the parcel I sent last week and loved her knitted cardigan she tells me it fits nicely. In that parcel was the vests and hat my neighbour gave me to send and the gloves my daughter gave me to send for the girls and the knitted bonnet I had done. I put packets of pasta too. They enjoy getting parcels but I do so wish I could go. I have been feeling low in mood with the lack of funds and the financial freedom to travel to see Boshra and the girls in Belgium.  I have not heard from grants that I have applied for, do not get shortlisted for paid work these days being a 64yrs old woman. The top officials I have written too have not responded. So frustrating especially when I am hearing of others with similar ideas and are able to get projects off the ground. If you remember from previous posts I have been desperate to set up a Flipgrid to link up the refugees with schools around the UK and the world, but no funds to do so.  Well yesterday on the ITV London news was the story of the Love Actually director Richard Curtis that has also seen the value of linking refugees with schools and has been twining with a London School. I hope I can contact him to make him aware of Family Link Up and all the ideas I have too. Report Video in Independent link this link shows the project that Richard Curtis is working on.

I had told Boshra that I was feeling sad and low in mood with frustration not able to get over to them and so she got the girls to cheer me up with some photos. They tell me to keep strong and they love all I am doing. Thank goodness for facebook and skype to keep me linked to see they are OK. I can see Boshra needs some furniture and curtains!
I am so proud of Boshra too she tells me she is going to Dutch classes to help her settle in Belgium. She also speaks French and is learning English with me and I am learning Arabic...

Given she loves art I have been doing a vocabulary building slide from some artwork. I will do more so we can all build up on descriptive vocab.

The update on Turkey and Dante and the children is that the new baby is doing well. I have the blanket I made to send next week when I have some funds to do so and will get some winter clothes if more funds come to me. I can send some funds too for him and his mum to do some shopping with the local traders. So much I can do if had the funds folks so please help me as you can.

Can you help me raise £1000 for the trip over to Belgium and to get provisions for them, more art materials for Boshra so she can market her work and educational books and toys for the girls... Leen will need school clothes for September term. We need to get some baking things for the new home kitchen and do some baking together :-) Stock the freezer up for the coming months. Can we do this together dear helpers? let me know of ideas such as coffee mornings and sponsored runs or cycles... anything that can help this project.
