Happy Birthday Leen

Happy Birthday to Leen... now 4 years old and speaking four languages too! Amazing!

Thank you to the Belgium school today for making a celebration of her birthday.

I am planning to out to Belgium for my birthday in March and for Celine's birthday. We can then have a catch up party time all together.

I am looking forward to visiting them and to see the school and the facilities for the community.

More knitting and crocheting on the go to keep the families warm in Turkey too... and we have news updates Good News that Boshra's sister in Germany is expecting again after the ectopic she experienced and sad news that one of Dante's cousins has renal problems and needs an operation....  So prayers and thoughts being sent.
The odds and ends of the left over 4ply wool is making a good crochet blanket... plus I have some knitted Double knitting squares to make up as a blanket too.  Finished a hooded jumper for Ahmed's baby brother.
I felt I would like to knit some Aran but have decided to do a waistcoat for Dante..but the size of the wool balls are hilarious HUGE... Got the Cats wondering what the heck is this!

I am purchasing & collecting educational books to send out to Dante for them to set up some teaching groups among themselves. I also need to send books to Belgium too for my Family Link Up - Education is key to rebuild lives.  As you know we have some teachers among the family members that simply need resources to set up classes for the kids. I am helping at a local school here in London as an assistant to help pick up experience, under the mentorship direction of the Dept of Education.  So you can see my energy is focused on the success of Family Link Up in rebuilding and restoring lives with that dreams, ambitions and hope for the future.

We need funds for fuel for winter in Turkey and food.  We need funds for educational materials for both the children in Belgium and in Turkey.  We need more art materials for Boshra in Belgium.  She still needs beds for the girls in the apartment too. Funds to purchase from local traders in the host countries is important.  But I also need funds to send parcels to them all.
Can we do this together dear helpers? let me know of ideas such as coffee mornings and sponsored runs or cycles... anything that can help this project - thank you!

Parcels arrive simultaneously

Lovely this evening on facebook to see photos coming in from Boshra in Belgium that her parcel arrived which includes my baking with my grand daughters!  At the same time photos came in from Turkey from Dante that the parcel arrived there.  He is pleased with the fur lined cardigan for his nephew Ahmed and the clothes for the older boys in the community.  The Maths and English books he is looking at to see if he can work with these to put on classes for the kids. One of my neighbours gets interested in the Family Link Up and she was able to see the facebook messages too as we sat and had tea and natter together here in Hayes West London.  Love this family link up project it is my life.
I have another jumper hot of the knitting needles for Dante to keep him warm while he is out and about doing is social work within the community.  The wool is so light and warm and is made from Merino sheep wool- which is from Turkey lol so will be going back to Turkey in my next parcel post.

"Merino Wool is a natural material originating from the Merino Sheep. Merino has high levels of warmth, breathability and softness against the skin, particularly when compared with traditional wool products." This is so special when I google information on the qualities of Merino wool. Merino is finer than most sheeps wool, which gives it a very soft feel.  I am feeling this as I knit it and it is so light too. I have learned most from this site which specialises in Mountain clothing.. wow could so with some of their wares for the Syrian community in Turkey. Mountain Ware - Merino Wool
Cup of tea share care I enjoyed knitting with the Merino chunky too so will look out for more of James Brett Wool
My cats been "helping" with the knitting! :-)

Happy New Year - 2019

Happy New Year from Family Link Up

I have great hope that this year I will be able to travel to see Boshra and the girls. There is a continued need for materials to help all settle and find some way to rebuild and sustain their lives.

Both those in Belgium and in Turkey.  Remember though I focus on these two host countries we have some members of the family in Germany too.

I have been knitting the New Year in with more warm knitwear for the rest of the winter months.

We need funds for fuel for winter in Turkey and food.  We need funds for educational materials for both the children in Belgium and in Turkey.  We need more art materials for Boshra in Belgium.  She still needs beds for the girls in the apartment too.
