Facebook 2 yrs memory when I was in Athens

Oh remember that day in Athens when I went to visit Boshra & Leen we went round to the Doctors of World for them to be introduced and to link up for help.

Todays main project complete introducing my Syrian family to the Doctors of the World in Athens....so now they have a knowledge where to go for help....but can also apply to help the team....even within 15 mins of being there some of the Syrian patients were asking my family to explain something......so we are connected.... Bless this team of volunteer doctors nurses and social workers they are coping with so many problems and clinical conditions...... was good to be welcomed as Retired Nurse and Midwife from London.... and sure is enough for me to help with too...!!!!

Impressed I worked out my street signs to find it hhhhhh omega pi epsilons 

I enjoyed being in the field and helping.....Boshra's family  as you know my dear followers are now in Belgium and so longing to go and visit but no funding to do so and to help her get some necessary art materials and educational resources for the children.... who are now speaking Arabic, French & English and about to learn Dutch..... we did pick up some words of Greek when in Athens too.... lol for me it is like deciphering scientific formulae...with all the mu, pi & Sigma. 

This was achieved on a small lump sum from my NHS pension but that is eroded now and I am on a very limited DWP payment of funds now and being born in 1950s denied my State Pension until 66yrs and now I am 64yrs..... I really need some help to continue this project with donations, sponsors, grants and paid work offers....My Profile for Paid Work.... You can see I am alive and shining as me, Marjorie when I can get out and help and be with the family.  Sadly I only get volunteer work offered by NGOs so struggle with living expenses and managing this personal befriending Family Link Up project.  As you know I have even written to Jean Claude Juncker and EU parliament they commend all I do but there is no funding for individual carer/befrienders, only NGOs but then the NGOs rely on volunteers with very little paid posts to apply for .. so I am in catch 22!

It would be good to get more interactive books and bilingual books plus education games and toys. Also some art materials for Boshra so she can paint and sell her artwork in the local markets and online.

Seaside fun for the girls

Oh I am missing out on this fun.... Boshra just sent me these photos from yesterday.... I had wondered where she was as not on facebook all day....this is the fun reason why ....they took the girls to the beach in Belgium.... so wish I could have been with them.... looks good..... nice to see Celine in the daisy cardigan I got from our local Mothercare in Hayes.... I have another parcel packed to go to them this week.... But would love to have the funds to visit and  have a good shopping session to get all they need.... Boshra is enjoying her host country adaptation school courses.... and is keen to get up and running working to give back to Belgium for all their care and safe haven they give her and the girls.... Remember I am keen to get Boshra art materials so she can produce some work to sell and we can look at marketing promotions too.

Refugee Week at the V&A

 Under my Umbrella - V&A

This was a good idea to engage the children to think about being a refugee and the message of love they wanted to send to refugees... See my design below as I had to sit and have a go too... The education staff for the V&A showed great interest in my Family Link Up project... Family Link Up  I hope we can meet up again and brainstorm more ideas to help keep the spotlight on refugees and the need to rebuild lives, heal the pain and gain peace and happiness and most of all hope again. 

My drawings are very elementary so forgive me on this but the idea was to use the segments of the umbrella to take you on a journey of a little girl caught in war and fleeing..... it starts with her normal life in peace with her apartment home, a normal day going to school and her pet cat...and her love of flowers. Then her world turned upside down and her journey as a refugee with dreams and regaining safety and peace. See the details of my work Under my Umbrella

Had a really good time in this refugee week... been good to meet up with friends that support Family Link up as they can and to help refugees here in London through my volunteer work with an NGO.. read more on my cup of tea share & Care blog Refugee Week V&A Friday  Juan DeGaldo put together a series of short films that touch the emotions and brought home to all watching the pain the trauma and the need to rebuild broken lives. 

good to meet the team at UNHCR - when ever I am out in the field with my Family Link Up project I will always write up a report and submit my observations, concerns and ideas to the legal team in London.  They have all the family details on file through my befriending. 

Spotted some good Art books in the V&A shop for Boshra when her command of English expands and to help that expansion...But the visuals will help to stimulate more of her own ideas too. I am so so keen to get her some art materials to get her up and running with creative work so she can market her work and earn again. 

 Fun puzzles and books for the girls so when I have some funds I can get a choice of goods for them.

Twinkle cardigan

Been quietly finishing Leen's Pink twinkle cardigan.... it now has ribbon threaded and pockets on ...As the yarn has splashes of amethyst and sapphire I decided to opt for an amethyst ribbon and buttons it works well I think.  The knitting contact so crucial while I cannot go and hug her..... She inspires me and keeps me going in this crazy life that adults have created. She is a light and also her sister Celine....who is such a determined little Big lady.....So so ready to go and see the girls..... but this will have to be posted I guess as not got the full fare funds and some shopping funds for Boshra & the girls for when I am there...... InshAllah all the ££$£$ issues will be sorted soon....... shame that man puts restrictions on himself and others by measuring life in £$£$£$£ So frustrating for me as Belgium is only a ferry ride away or a 2 hrs Eurostar train to Brussels .. I have some contacts to follow in Belgium and sure would like to meet with the Age Platform Europe team to discuss what is happening here in the UK with over 60s.... If I could get my State Pension it would be a help but I am a WASPI women unable to get this till I am 66yrs and I am 64yrs WASPI Link to learn more  Also here is the link to the AGE Platform Europe Age Platform Europe

More to send to Belgium soon

Been a lovely day today meeting with a supporting friend at the King George VI mosque in Regents Park... we spotted the Arabic letter game so got one for Leen.  We managed to whats app call Dante in Turkey too.  So good connecting day... Love this rose I spotted in the courtyard. 

So another nice parcel of educational fun books and games developing and I have another cardigan on the go in a Twinkly baby pink wool with splashes of amethyst and sapphire colours.  I still have to solve the larger funding issue of travel to Belgium and am keen to go as soon as possible. 

 More lovely roses in the mosque.
