Save the Planet School Concert

Yesterday I had felt adrift with a dark dull day here in London.... I was missing getting out and about to see the family and have fun with our learning sharing. I had had a visit from my neighbours granddaughter and that was nice as she loves listening about Leen & Celine.  Then last night there was a flurry of cute photos and short films came into my messenger. On Friday the school had put on a concert to "Lets Save the Planet!" for the parents. So cute... little sister Celine and her class were in the show.... as a fish bless her. I am so impressed with the teachers as they had the class singing songs, doing all the dance and manoeuvres. There was a sweet moment when Celine came on the stage and spotted her mum and dad so was waving lol waving her fin hhhh You have to remember she is still 2 yrs old will be 3 at the beginning of March. But for those following our story you will remember how as a baby she was very determined.. remember the reach for the ball with her legs up in the air on her belly determined to get it. And she walked at 9mths like my eldest daughter! Leen was in the play but not sure what they were I think seaweed... she is a born performer too as I watched as her & her class came on the stage and took their places. Leen kept in the opening pose till the cue of the music and teacher....  In the film footage I love hearing the parents giggling in pride at the children and enjoying every minute... 

On the subject of the planet.. On Friday I had been skyped by Dante their uncle in Turkey and he had been showing me the lovely day from the rooftops with the sunshine but a cold winter day.. We had been enjoying this and chatting about the young boys Mohammed & Hamid both up to toddler mischief!... then 4 hours later news came through of an Earthquake in Turkey.. He messaged me to reassure me that he and the family their were OK and he was busy checking on others in the community. Ever the carer and like a social worker among his community.  All to remind us all that the young generation have a lot to do to undo the mess we are making of this one planet home Earth and how the Earth needs love and respect. It is the only place we have and full of beauty if only we would treasure that beauty.

Artwork style develops

•⊰✿Art Materials Fund•⊰✿

Over the last few evenings I have been watching this wonderful colourful art developing as Boshra sent me updates and little films of her work.   The colours from the closing down sale bargains I have purchased from Boville & Wrights in Uxbridge. I have been posting packages of the art materials and so impressed with the fast post! But so sad we are losing the art shop. The work Boshra is producing is fascinating me and her lecturer at the Kunst Academie an Zee... I hope between us all we can get her life rebuilt through art. It is helping her so much with the healing creative and expressive energy... that is good.  The little videos I get she will have her favourite Arabic songs on and the plastic sheet out over the floor to turn the apartment into a studio... and all while the little Princesses are asleep. So relaxing to see and hear... love the sharing with me as helps me too! I would love to have more help to get her art materials dear readers, if you could help that would be wonderful. But I will always find a way from the little I have to help this young woman succeed for her family!
I have submitted her earlier work to the RA so that is in the pipeline to be judged. We will get to know if she is through to the second stage in March. I have booked to go over to Belgium with the Eurostar January seat deals for mid March to bring over her work if she makes it through to the second round of judging.  

Yesterday was truly a Family Link Up as I had gone into Ruislip to discuss framing Boshra's selected pieces for the RA. Bovilles no longer able to offer any framing had recommended the shop in Ruislip.  I went by Metro from Uxbridge but on the return spotted a U1 bus to Uxbridge so jumped on this and was surprised at the Uxbridge college stop, my granddaughter Olivia got on the bus -  her lectures finished early... How Kismet was that...?! so we had another look at the Bovilles sale together.  We chose these materials below with some coloured pencils for the girls too. All 50% off! We have chosen some florescent colours as there is a new technique out of creating uplighting glowing effects on faces, so thought Boshra may like to experiment with this idea.  The other fun thing that happened was at the framing shop another grandma came in and asked if there were any mount off cuts for her granddaughter - when I asked for more on this it turns out the shop gives free off cuts of the mounts and the students are using these for their art classes as mini canvases... So I got some for Errin, my youngest granddaughter that is into the Manga Artwork...These I was able to give to Olivia to take to her! Family Link Up is that link up!  :-)

Happy Birthday Princess Leen

Our lovely Princess Leen is 5 yrs old today.

Lovely that the school puts on a party for her. I have cute film footage of them all singing Happy Birthday to her in English and then wishing Happy Birthday in Dutch. So looking forward to visiting again and love the multi linguistics.  I have this morning been working on some French to English to Dutch fun exercises for my next visit. In Belgium it is so important to be able to speak these three languages; and then with her Arabic this makes her my little BIG Professor of Linguistics :-)  Eurostar have had January sale bargain seats so I have booked to go mid March for my birthday and Celine's, she will be 3yrs then and me ....well over the sixty five mark and moving closer to.... but not reaching as yet 70yrs (how did that happen!) ... The timing will be good as if Boshra has got through to the second round of art judging at the RA then I will need to bring her submissions back to London for framing and presentation.

Saturday morning Bargain shop

Half price bargains today from the sad closure of our local Art Shop Boville & Wrights in Uxbridge but helping me to augment shopping for Boshra.

Thanks to some personal funds but with more donations I can get more bargains. I will get these packed and posted to Belgium on Monday.

another parcel of art materials arrived

The parcel of acrylics I got from Bovilles Uxbridge closing down sale have arrived today in Belgium. Boshra sent me a photo of the box.... I have more to send and will call in at the shop on Saturday to see what else I can get for her. I have some varnish too that I picked up from there the other day to help finish the artwork and protect from sunlight.  I am ready for loading jpegs to the Royal Academy of Arts and the staff have kindly given me some guidance. each entry is £35 and we have picked 3...

I attended an art auction at Christies on Monday for the Hope Project in Lesvos.. this was for me to get in the know of how to market art and how refugee art is appreciated. I am enjoying the world of art as this is another part of me... I have always loved art.... I remember when my children were babies and reading the History of Art so I am loving this aspect of my project.  But I need to learn about presentation, framing and marketing. My Family Link Up project gives me many facets of learning and experience.  I am also mindful of the need to fund more of Leens ballet lessons in this new term at ballet school as she loves dance and music. There are continued needs to meet in Turkey.  Dante is concerned over a Syrian who has a genetic eye problem so I have been writing to specialists to see if there is any help to prevent this man from blindness... So I have clinical considerations too. This project is surely my life and brings all aspects of my life together.....

Parcels arrived

Well impressed with the speed of the post my parcels arrived so tops, art pens and the knitted blanket too are with Boshra now... Thank you Post Office UK and Belgium... They arrived yesterday and today the girls gone to school in their pretty tops.... 

Good news the Portal has opened now at the 

Royal Academy of Arts 

to submit Boshra's art work for the Summer Exhibition judging rounds.

Local Uxbridge Art shop closing

Called in today to Bovilles Art shop in Uxbridge so sad to see that the shop is closing down... and especially as I had so many marketing ideas Family Link Up. The staff feel like family after all these years in Uxbridge and other customers sad too.  But I have managed to get some more acrylics for Boshra plus some fun fan brushes and some gold markers... I will keep nipping in to pick up more over the next few weeks there is only a month to shop before closure... If I can get some fund donations for my Art materials appeal then I can help to buy more of their stock to help us both. Blanket finished & art update

Over the last month or two I have been knitting squares with left over wool from the cardigans and jumpers that I have been knitting for the girls. Just finished a blanket with them all... Lulu one of my cats been loving laying near the warmth of the double layer cross over stitch... lol the blanket could be an old lady knee rug for me this old lady hhh but it will be good for the girls in Belgium on cold days in their little tuck tuck rickshaw buggy that they sit in while dad cycles them to and from school.  Do you remember from my last visit posting... 

ART UPDATE: Today been busy sending the story of Boshra and her art to an online art magazine, so lets hope this will be accepted. We have an hurdle that has come up in that the landlord of the apartment where they are living in wants to sell.. so they are with the social worker looking for another place in Oostende.  Boshra tries so hard coping with all the changes... but it would have been good for a couple of years stability as she is studying art and we have the marketing and exhibition ideas to fulfil as a must for her future... She is a tenacious lady and will win through... and she has me and you my supporters too to keep her strong. This is why it is so important to befriend refugees to provide support and strength and continuity of care.  You know one thing I notice about Boshra and the other Syrian women is that no matter the conditions and place they are housed in, they are home proud and like to keep a good home well run.  Even in the camps I was impressed with the way the womenfolk were holding the families together and trying to make home out of condition they were in.  The apartment they have now is spacious and is an ideal for space for her art work...The girls should still be able to go to the same school which as you know from my reports is an amazing progressive school with so much love and respect for all the children and their development and education.  Leen will keep going with her ballet but the apartment now was a good location as the ballet school is just round the corner... However in all honesty Oostende is well planned out and all facilities are within easy reach. The cycle and buggy helps as it does with all the other mums and dads in the town.

I have some news to that was a shock from here in Uxbridge.. Bovilles the long term well respected art shop is closing due to retirement and no buyer for the business... We had loads of ideas to help with prints and marketing for Boshra too.. But the stock is in the closing down sale so I will get some bargains.  With some good funds I can help the owner with stock sales and help Boshra too.. I will be going into Uxbridge on Monday so will update you all.
