Tunic arrived

Photos fresh in now of the crochet tunic that has arrived today. Good to have parcel link up at least and with standard post it is getting there in a week. They have also the warm Nepalese shawl blanket too for the cooler nights that are happening now as we move into autumn time.  I am busy with a knitted cardigan for Boshra I have finished the back fronts and sleeves but fathoming out the lace border... will show when I have done this.... I am having to sample knit the lace on bigger needles and thicker wool to get in the logic of the pattern.  The is a couple of rows where I get confused ~~ but will not be beaten. I enjoyed knitting and crochet when my kids were small and for my grandkids it is just a case of reawakening skills and logic of patterns.  I am quite pleased with the crochet tunic top... she will get a lot of wear out of this and can be worn over a long sleeve t-shirt too.

Update from the family members in Turkey little Ahmed is now a big brother to a new baby. The newborn had some time in the neonatal unit after fetal distress but is home with mum and family now. I got a peep on skype the other day and it was timed with a smile from the new little one... bless new life is so precious.. Families are so precious. I will get you some photos when the family are ready to share these. Many thanks dear readers for your help and support. 

Uplifted Spirits with film footage

Just got some film footage in my facebook chat with Boshra... this has done me good as I keep feeling so frustrated that they are geographically near to me but I simply have not the funds to go and visit them.  It helps me to see and share through social media the fun the girls are having. Now they are near the sea there is all the fun of the fair and sea and sand.  Just so wish I could get to have time with them...

Nepal love to Belgium via Ruislip.. !

SnowPeaks Nepali Arts & Crafts

Been a good Sunday afternoon at the Duck Pond Market in Ruislip. I have been with my Grand daughter which was nice to have her company... easy to meet up in Uxbridge then take the metro to Ruislip. My friend, Anna and supporter of Family Link Up was there with her Nepalese stall.

I got a lovely snugly shawl for Boshra in Belgium which will be warm for her in winter or she can snuggle up the kids too with it as it's a good size. So some more love from Nepal to the Syrians. I have taken over toys and little play bags for the kids before when Boshra and the family were in Eleonas Camp if you remember from past posts.. It feels nice to link up traders from around the world to share love for one another this way.  The Nepalese craftsman & traders are pleased their goods go to help others through my Family Link Up project

Crochet Tunic finished ready to send

Just hot of the press finished! Been sat quiet today to complete the tunic for Princess Leen.. it is the first crochet garment I have done - as usually just done blankets and shawls.  All garments in the past I have knit... so well chufted with myself today. Used the last of the art fair buttons on the back fastening. This is what started it all off the Canal Fair button stall... I need to find that seller again as love the buttons. Bank Holiday Fair in May So now to get this tunic parcelled off till I can get over to see them it has to be parcels.

yea parcel arrives at new address

Good Jayid Arabic for good ... the parcel for Boshra and the girls has arrived at the new address in Ostende Belgium. It always feels good to have the postal connection for things I can send with my love and any other donation love too.  The tops I knit look OK was thinking I could have made an even deeper lace border on the jade one... I am always happy to see Leen taking interest in the interactive books I send.  The visuals can be used for any target language too.  She really is fascinated by the books one from the British Library book shop about the Zoo and the other from Uxbridge Waterstones about starting school.. with a scanner song which is neat feature. 

Remembering when I took the Peek-a-boo book over to Leen when she was in Eleonas Camp in Athens... we had so much giggles and fun with this. 

This evening been busy stitching up the tunic top that I crocheted.  In the morning I will finish the pink trim and flowers... good I had one button left from the Canal Fair stall - if you remember that set all this knitting and handcraft off in me lol

Turkish Lira crisis to turn around to help

I am picking up on the news of the economic crisis in Turkey Guardian article on Turkish Crisis and am saddened as I have seen what good traders the locals are and how they have cared for the refugees. On the news this evening tourists were however noticing that they were getting more Turkish Lira for their Euros.  I have in Family Link Up always seen that we can link up traders to help local businesses.  Whenever I have travelled to either Turkey or Greece it made sense to take cash to spend with the locals to help their businesses.  So I am suggesting if we can fund raise a good sum of money then I can send some to Dante and his family to get what they need for the coming winter from their local traders.  With a good sum we can get for their community too.  Remember the photos I took in Antalya of the good selection of shoes and also good winter knits... there are great kids clothes too.  The womenfolk can get some yarns to make some clothes. This will help turn the situation round a little to help the local traders.  They have their families to feed too... better for us to be a Global Family and help one another when you think it all out. 

 I hope we can all help as Turkey have been trying hard to cope with the influx and the growing population. They have great tourists resorts and are friendly locals from my times there. Parliament meeting on Turkey & Refugees see my page on the situation before this crisis when I attended a parliamentary meeting.  There are some useful report links too on this page.

Skype call to Belgium

Sorry for the screen capture not being clear but we were having a laugh today as Celine squirmed her way in between Leen & Boshra to see me on the screen.  It did me good to see them today as you can see... But so wish I could get over to Belgium to see them all and get all they need for Leen's school and for winter. Today had to see my GP for a check up and was telling her how frustrating it is not to have the funds to get over to see the Syrian family. Sometimes it is like I am pinning for them. My knitting and crochet is therapeutic as I can reach them to love them through each stitch I make.  I keep trying to get some paid work but no short listing these days at 64yrs ... I have grant applications in and try to get my local council to see the potential in us linking up traders to help boost up local economies.  
Today I was checking on whether the parcel I sent last week had arrived. But not as yet.  We have checked the address and I have just looked on satellite to match the window with their apartment that I saw on skype today - so all seems correct.  I did notice with the last address once there was frequent parcels the post got quicker each time.

Good got some photos through this evening of Ahmed with the books I sent to Turkey some weeks ago.  The visuals are good for any target language.  But Uncle Dante will help with the English reading as his English speaking is good...
