Tribute to Michael Bond

Sad news that Michael Bond as passed away.  But he has left a legacy of love and wonderful stories for all children to enjoy.  My beautiful Princess Leen loves her Paddington bear and was totally fascinated by the story books with her famous bear friend on the pages of illustrations..... So thank you Michael of bringing love into the refugee camps... I could not resist in my travel through Paddington station to get a Paddington bear companion for Leen to enjoy and sort of give some love from London too.. The station staff loved it when I showed photos of her with Paddington Bear in Eleonas Camp Athens.

In the cabin in Eleonas ready for bedtime.

First meeting of Paddington in Eleonas Camp last year 2016

A bear from Peru well traveled and given lots of love on the way!
Help me get more love gifts to help the family feel a family while they rebuild their lives again!

Contact Made

So relieved last night had contact with Boshra for a chat on facebook and she shared some photos with me.  They are safe in Belgium and being looked after in a camp before resettlement in the community. I had been so worried where they were that I had emailed the Belgium government & UNHCR for some update.  Then felt an intuitive need to go online in the night and then found Boshra awake and able to connect too.....  Bless girls were unsure of flying though Leen does look confident in the adventure in the departure lounge :-)

Boshra can speak some French so she should adapt well to the French speaking area they are in.  I would like to travel to see them... Please can you help with donations for me to go and spend some time there.  It will be interesting to see if any of the others from Eleonas have been moved there too for me to keep contact with.

Evening of Sharing

A great evening of sharing for the Refugee week on Thursday at the Arab British Centre..

Was able to open mike my story of the Family Link Up project.  People could hear my passion for the project and that I need some funding to carry on to reach full potential at helping to rebuild the families broken lives.

Down and Up

Today was emotional with no funds to get on the train to see where the girls have been settled in Belgium... and have no contact to know just exactly where they are... Dante picked up on my sadness and came on Skype to cheer me up with those funny faces apps ... it was crazy was laughing and crying at the same time.  They too are waiting to know exactly where the girls are.  But we cheered one another up... and was good to see his mum too... she is looking so much better for being with her family in Turkey.

Showing you these English learning books as got these wipe clean practice writing teaching tools for a local Afghani lady.... Her daughters are teaching her to read and write so got these to help her.

But they would be good for the teaching in the camps and for the refugee communities..... but alas I cannot do anything without funds. I hope you can help with donations...or contact me with fund raising ideas.

Today the move to Belgium

Today Boshra and the girls are being transferred from Eleonas Camp Athens to Belgium for resettlement.  Ideally I would have liked to have been with them but alas have not secured any funding.  Please can you help me with some funds to get to Belgium once I know where they are to go and see them.  I am incredibly fond of this family and the wish to continue my care and befriending to ensure they are safe and able to rebuild their lives.  Dante in Turkey is so upset that I cannot go and oversee his sister and family safe arrival... but with no funds I am trapped here in London.  My only saving grace is the donations from gofundme and that they are closer to me geographically.  Do note the funds of £1,215 are spent on previous trips.  So I need more funds to travel with much appreciation to your support and your kind hearts to be part of the story with your donations.

Time close of move

Just chatting with Boshra on facebook and it is confirmed they will be flown out of Athens to be resettled in Belgium on the 22nd.

Suddenly feeling emotional as wish I could get out to Athens to be with them and fly with them.  The UNHCR organise the flights for them...

But if I could get out to Athens for their farewell from the camp and to see the all the womenfolk and families I have shared so much time with would be great.

Or even if I could get out to Belgium to meet Boshra and the girls that would be good. But I need the funds to do all this. So frustrating. I have the desire the passport the missing link is the funding to do this..

We have made memories in Athens and had some fun - loved the day Princess Leen was bird chasing in the square... looking so cute in the clothes that had been sent from Wembley. The boots my friend had given me money to buy for her.

The lovely time with my kindhearts fundraising I was able to get out and meet Leen's new baby sister Celine this year.  Thank you all for making this possible.    I must not lose contact with them and Boshra has promised to keep me updated with photos and films for me. She will let me know of the new place.

Been thinking maybe one of my daughters and my grandson Sam could come with me on a bargain weekend break to Belgium on the Eurostar and we all go and check Boshra and the girls are ok.  All needs funds and I am so reliant on donations, fundraising and any sponsors reading this or hearing of my Family Link Up project.  Today was speaking with a local promo firm and maybe we can get some ideas to help leverage this project.  As wowee would it be then lovely to get over to Dante and now his mama in Turkey with photos and gifts to show that they are settled safe....
Today got a nice jacket from Caroles knitting stall in Uxbridge and it goes well with a dress I bought a few weeks ago for Princess Leen... Boshra was concerned not to send the parcel chance it arrives after they have left the camp. So this will have to wait till new address is known.  This is the uncertainly in the refugees lives till they can get somewhere to throw more permanent roots down.
Helping to Link up a refugee family scattered is an amazing project.
I share their worries and concerns, their laughter and their sadness.
Respond to their practical needs and make visits as I can to link up.
But most of all I am committed to helping them rebuild their lives
and
one day be able to be together again.

Refuge and Sharing

Refuge Screening & Expert Panel ... Prof Haskel, Chair in Economics; Dr Fasani Queen Mary Uni; Catrin Nye BBC reporter and documentary maker; Anna Jones, RefuAid and Ahmad Al-Rashid Campaigner Refugee & Forced Migration researcher.
Imperial College in Partnership with UNICEF NEXTgen for the screening of Refuge - Human Stories from the Refugee Crisis...
The film is very moving always I feel for the layers upon layers of grief refugees are dealing with plus horrendous memories of the war, broken lives and families..
We had a time of sharing after the film and panel discussion.. In this discussion a look at how we can turn the whole situation around to benefit host countries. This is akin to my thinking and observations of how we can turn this crisis into a Global Family Sharing and linking up traders and businesses... help the refugees to expand on their skills for all to benefit and rebuild. I really do think midwifery training for the womenfolk that are interested in this would be a wonderful project.
Some wonderful contacts made and I look forward to more time sharing our experiences.  I am happy to give talks on all I have learnt and continue to learn from my Family Link Up.

Sheffield Day of Sharing

Had an amazing day in Sheffield at The Circle. What a lovely centre in Sheffield dedicated to volunteering. They have schemes to help the refugees that have been settled in this Sanctuary City. Some are now mentors and instructors on courses, workshops and conferences. A great time of sharing with other volunteers that work with refugees in camps across Europe and here in the UK. Was lovely to have the refugees make us a lovely meal for us to share together....  sharing as a Global Family....

The day of sharing was enhanced on my return to London in that on my way home met Lord Dubs on the circle line underground. Was able to show him all I have been doing today.  He was well impressed and we are going to meet up after the election to debrief on all that I am achieving as an individual carer/befriender.  Been a extra special day as that "chance" meeting of Lord Dubs on my return to London only came about as I came home on an earlier train. Like all had to be. Thanks to my Iranian activist friend that paid for my train ticket to attend seeing the importance of the conference... Working together is important to support one another.
