Promise of Knitwear

I was in Uxbridge today talking to Carole do you remember her readers from last year and all the support she gives with the knitwear for the kids in the camp.  She has some more lovely stock for me to buy and has some extra goodies to give too... She enjoys my direct link up.. Leen enjoys sorting out clothes with us in the camp too bless her team work.... The girls are still in the Eleonas camp in Athens awaiting a relocation date.  So wish I could nip over with some goodies get first hand update.. and find out where and when they will go to in Belgium. So frustrating with no funds.... Lets also see what the conference in Sheffield can offer me on the development of this project. As we move into June it is clear the year is passing quickly and another winter will be upon us all to ensure they all keep warm... Let me know if you can help me in some way... thanks

Stores display for Ramadan

🌙🌺Love what Debenhams Store in Uxbridge have done in the Children's clothes department.... they have recognized Ramadan and the celebration for the kids to get dressed up for Eid in fine party clothes..... so Love this Ramadan Kareem displaying. Was speaking with the duty manager and telling him about my family link up project.. he was interested and given me a contact to see if I can get some clothes for my Family Link Up project to send to the refugees....or even take out if I can get some more funds... with of course some food goodies too. Ramadan Kareem

Lovely afternoon at the Regents Park Mosque today, on the eve of Ramadan.  The place was busy and some of the sisters took a lot of interest in my project.  Some even wishing to travel with me sometime to help out. I hope we can get a team of helpers together and supporters, to join the ones that have already become part of the story.  We have lives to rebuild..

I am hoping with some funds to get some flyers to give out and been working out how to do the printed square barcodes to iphone scan to lead to this blog and gofundme.. It was Granny helpdesk with my grand children to work that out lol

Flower Fairy Princesses

Update from Eleonas Camp... Boshra and family are still at the camp there awaiting a date to be resettled in Belgium.  I could have sent the parcel of clothes and toys last week but it will be typical that I send it now and they move out.  I wish I could just nip over for a couple of days to check on the situation. It is mega frustrating with no further funds....If anyone has any idea on fundraising or sponsors ....please let me know.

Painful Situation

Dante is going crazy with the situation of being in Turkey by the border and his mother father younger sister and youngest brother being at the other side in Syria.  It is the most frustrating situation to be stood at a certain point on Turkish soil and look over the border and see your parents yet not be able to get them over to safety.   Dante's mother continues to have chest pains with stress. I still have not had a response from the Turkish Ambassador here in London to see if he can help with the situation.   I am asking for church leaders and other faith leaders to help me with a request for compassionate and dignified clearance of the elderly parents to join him in Turkey.  I have copies of their papers and so have the UNHCR ... all we need is them cleared to join Dante. 

I can feel his pain and I am sure you can at this situation. 

I can never show you his photo until all the family are safe.  But he is a very knowledgeable and kindly man.  All the local traders in Turkey when we met loved spending time with him and had much respect for him.

Clear dream shared of Dante's mother as he misses her.  Translated from Arabic and adapted in English by Marjorie. 

I saw her. I swear I saw her cross the house courtyard. Stepping out in haste before dawn. The dutiful morning prayer before the start of her busy day. Then I could hear her make the morning tea..... yes  I hear footsteps in synchronous beat with my heart. I even heard her knock on my bedroom door.  Her image like the light of a star, hazy and fragile, a fugitive within the darkness of my despair. Missing her and in pain each day as to her safety. I think of her and I feel her think of me. Yes it was my mother.

Please pray for this situation and if you can help let me know. I cannot rest till I have this family together and safe, with this rebuild their lives.

Waiting to hear

Waiting to hear from Boshra where they have been allocated to settle.  The last contact I had with her was Monday evening when she told me they would find out Tuesday which country would accept them.  I am hoping they will be able to be with other family members in Germany.  We are all waiting to hear.  Dante too is needing to know.  I have a parcel of clothes and toys to send for the girls but Dante was saying best hold back as they may be moved out from Eleonas camp soon.  So the parcel I will send when I know where they are going to be.  
****NEWS IN: BELGIUM OFFERED WAITING FOR CONFIRMATION AND ADDRESS WHERE THEY WILL BE.... added to blogpost 21st May 2017***** I am grateful to another activist friend that gave me some funds yesterday .  I have been able to get the train tickets now to go to the Refugee Volunteer Conference in Sheffield 5th June... which I hope will help me find ways of funding this project more extensively.  This project is my life and I would like to visit Boshra in her new location once we know where.  It has been quite a journey for her from fleeing Syria -  the photo shows some of the conditions they were faced with.  I am eternally grateful to the teams in Eleonas camp in Athens for giving them the care and dignity of that camp..

Thank you to the teams and wish I could have had more time in the camp.

Family care

I was awake in the night last night.... not from stress just had been such a wonderful evening of sharing with my NYR upline and some of the team.  The Frankincense Mindful facial evening was just what I needed...... and it worked out really well. But all the time I am thinking of Boshra and the fact she is a business study graduate.  So much we could do together and give her a springboard to rebuilding her life for her and the girls.  In the night I noticed she was on facebook and guessed correctly was up feeding Celine.... while Leen asleep.... so was good to chat together.   I am worried about Dante however... it is really frustrating as his facebook account was deactivated and we have lost some stories and threads... but thankfully have a lot on back up files too... and he is just feeling stuck in the mud... We have had no response from job applications and his CV is building all the time with his personal social work experience in Turkey.   We have however some students from Brunel going out to the camps in Turkey this month so hope I can get them to meet up with him.  I also could do with some more funds to get some supplies to send out with them too.... and for them to use to get some food and clothes for the refugees too.  I will give more update on this when I have met with Ali, the Student Union President to get to know the itinerary... wish I could go too to assess the situation....It would be good to meet the IMPR humantarian teams as the facebook posts are looking dynamic and impressive.... Feeling tied down with no funding :-( But thank goodness are still caring for one another. Still giving one another strength and hope.... and we will win somehow to rebuild lives.....

Girlie Day in the Camp

Been a girlie day today with Leen's friend round doing her hair in all those topknots .. lol photos in from Boshra.

Love the atmosphere of the camp and helping one another as a community.

They are simply trying to live their lives in the circumstance they are in.

Leen would be good for the children's catalogues so cute... Also she loves dancing and I was learning about another refugee that has made it in ballet. As soon as she hears music she loves dancing to it.... such a joy to be around.

Longing to be with

Very conscious the days I cannot get to visit I am missing so much of this little lady.  Her laughter, her company and her growth.....

Of course now missing her sister Celine too...

I have to find a way for some substantial funding for this project.  So frustrating being so close to Heathrow and not able to nip over for a few days to Athens...to visit the camp. 

And I would like to update on things in Turkey too with the family there and all that Dante does in his social work support.  

If anyone has any ideas on long term funding then let me know.. after grants, sponsors and fundraising ideas.  You can of course donate to the gofundme.... each donation has a 7 days clearance with some commission taken out by the fundraising platform.  This project is my life and I am lost without all the freedom to travel and see the family.  I have some parcels gathering too to send or take whichever becomes possible.   Today I rang one of the ITV competitions as wow they were giving so many shopping vouchers and a lump sum too... That would be perfect to get things for the refugee communities I am befriending through this family link up... Hope I win!

Today in Hayes

Got a knitted teddy for Celine in Eleonas camp from the Hayes Methodist bring and buy sale... gee if I had enough fundraising could have got some lovely home knitted cardigans and blankets plus more knitted toys for the camps. Women loved hearing about the project - so may get asked to talk for fundraising when we got all the chaos of election over. Lovely fellowship to of women from all religions sat having really good natter with one another.... but brothers watch out we sisters were comparing notes on you.... lol

Ready to see them again if only...

Seeing so many nice things clothes, toys, books and yummy food to take to the camp! Just wish I could get a bargain city break to have at least a couple of days visit.

Miss my little Princess Leen in Eleonas - my littler helper - always seems to know I am trying my best to help link up the family together. 

It is not just shopping but being able to have the freedom to nip back and forth to visit.

Bless her ..she is holding my flyer and the laminated letter from Brussels a response from the many letters and emails to find funding to simply be able to care and befriend and help as I can.

The scattered refugee families is a long term issue with the world in turmoil... We actually need more carer/befrienders to help keep hope and give chance and opportunity to rebuild their lives.
