Updates from Family Link Up

Introducing baby Ahmed in Turkey.. This is one of Dante's nephews.... his brothers baby. They are all together now for the winter months to try and cope with the cold weather to intensify. We have just had fun on Skype with Lulu the cat and one of the House of Lords Teddy bears lol 

So we have a group of family of six in one home. They also help in the community around them. So funds from this project can serve so many needs.  Dante and I are working on some grants but the grants if successful will not yield till late next year by the time all the application procedure is followed. So we are desperate for some donations, fundraisers and sponsors.... Sadly the earlier supporters have not been able to donate for 8 months now as I know they try to help many other projects and charities.  I need a team of fundraisers and I need regular monthly donations.  One thing you can be absolutely sure of is that I am a Hand to Hand link up ... what ever you give I can evidence gets direct to the family be it those in Belgium, Turkey and Germany.  At the moment I am focusing on Dante in Turkey and Boshra his sister in Belgium.. I am waiting for Boshra to message me on the move to the new home that the Belgium authorities have organised for today... 

NEWS JUST IN: 

Getting to know that one of Dantes younger brothers in Germany has been taken ill with pneumonia and pleural effusion ... from what Dante has described to me from the procedure of a chest drain.  I am trying to get to know which Krankenhaus he is in.  It is difficult as Asma one of his sisters in Germany but in a different area having been permitted to join her husband.  They have no funds to travel to see the sick brother.  I have no funds too so the whole thing is so frustrating.... I wish the EU would recognise individual carer/befrienders like me and my background as nurse and midwife.... I could go and see, be an assessor, and be the connector for all the family physically able to fly and cross borders.  I just need the funds to do this.  All I do as per my professional commitments I will evidence and write reports on. 

What I am showing to you is how families are so scattered and how difficult it is when there is illness or needs to be addressed.  I will get more information and update you more and see if I can get any of my activists friends in Germany to visit him and update us......

Winter stock

I had some time with Carole today in the Pavilions Uxbridge and she was telling me that she will only be there for another week then they have to move out for the Christmas Fayre so will not be back till New Year.  I was hearing this from other stall holders too. So they will not earn over the festive period. Bizarre as surely they could be incorporated in with the Christmas fayre.  I felt so frustrated with no funds as if I had funds and enough... I could have bought all her stock to send to the refugees... then that would help her and my family link up project. 

Especially as when I have been on Skype tonight with Dante in Turkey he has shown me a new baby in the community where he is... and I am renewing my appeal for funds for fuel for them, winter clothes and food.... Readers I do feel frustrated with no funding for this project as I can see time and time again how we can all inter connect be an hand to hand link up and it benefit so many... The traders as well as the refugees.... Contact me if you have any funding ideas.  I continue to keep applying for grants and for paid work... paid work is not so forthcoming for me but other offers of voluntary work always there.  So much need and if we all had the funds to meet them.

Read my Princess Leen poem today to group

Today was able to share my poem with the women's group in Uxbridge.  They hear me talking about my refugee Family Link Up project so asked me to read the poem.. and they love it and Princess Leen... so now they feel linked up too... we are all survivors of trauma and rebuilding our lives and it feels good to be helping others rebuild their lives too.

Celine not yet a year old and look!

One determined Little BIG lady! 

She is off walking this is my little princess Celine born early March! She reminds me of my eldest daughter Debbie she was the same she followed me in the kitchen walking at 9 months and missed out the crawling stage... lol that was in 1972 wow as mothers we remember all our kids did... and never forget the first time we see them and hold them! I remember my first time seeing Celine too in the Eleonas Camp thanks to your kind donations I was able to go and see her.  I am so so ready for visiting the girls again. 

This week is a big week as they move again from the Belgium camp the room you can see in the photo above and to be housed in the Flemish area of Belgium... In some ways geographically closer to me as only need to ferry over from England to them. But I am in need of funds... not only for the travel but to do a Winter Shop with them. You can see Celine will need shoes now and the new place will need some household goods... and Boshra is so in need of some new clothes too....Princess Leen more clothes and some educational books and toys to help with all the new languages.....

Wonderful News Prince Harry engaged to Meghan

Family Link Up are delighted to hear the news 

and 

wish them a long & happy life together. 

This has been a happy Monday morning for us all and sent a wave of happiness and smiles and giggles too.... I have just had a lovely facebook chat with Boshra about the engagement.  

I was telling her to get the girls to draw congratulations pictures ... and the other refugee kids too .. and to ask the teacher to help in the local school.  Boshra was amazed that we do this in the UK and that mail is sent and read by the Royal family... I have found a photo of our Queen Elizabeth reading her 80th birthday cards made by children of the nation.  The photo is so lovely of the Queen too.  Boshra is amazed that I write to the Royal family too and get replies. The teacher in the camp could send the drawings to Prince Harry & Meghan Kensington Palace London and they will be received.  Hope they do this will be fun to do.   Another reason why I would like some funds to get art materials for the refugees. 

I am sure they Royal family would laugh at this photo fresh in today from Celine hhhhh Celine has discovered chocolate is fun!

Teds from White Ribbon Lunch

Yesterday I attended a White Ribbon Day survivors Lunch at the Civic Centre Uxbridge and there was the local Women's Institute there.  They had loads of hand knitted teddies.  Apparently it is an initiative that our emergency services carry teds to help calm kids that are upset in traumatic circumstances.... They gave all the women some teddies yesterday and were delighted that I will be sending mine to the refugee children in Belgium... 
Celine came on Skype yesterday and she was fascinated by my puppet show with the teddies...... I will put them in the parcel that is developing for them. Of course they have been inspected and passed by my sister cats Lulu & Pengu ... all the refugee kids love it when the cats go on skype too..... gets many a giggle from them... the cats are famous in Turkey, Eleonas Athens and Belgium now hhhh

New Move in Belgium

I am busy getting another parcel together for Boshra and the girls in Belgium.  Carole from the knitting stall in the Pavillons Uxbridge gave me a deal on this lovely red cardigan for Celine.  I also spotted an half price deal on some watercolour pencils for Boshra too... I need to get the right paper for her now. She is looking forward to pursuing and renewing her love of artwork... I am keen to see what she can do too.... I was speaking to the staff at H&M yesterday about clothes for the refugees and they were telling me to become a customer club member as I will earn points on purchase and get some discount.... So if I can get funds to do a shop it will augment the amount of goods got.  

This morning been facebook chatting with Boshra and she has shown me a letter she has received in French. She can read and speak some French so we both know the content.  They have been offered a place to live in the Flemish area of Belgium and will move next week. 

So I will hang on to the parcel to be sure they settled in the new address then post registered.  It looks a lovely area to be in and it will mean another language to learn.  Wallah I tell you the refugees will have good jobs in the UN at this rate with their growing polyglot skills.  I would love to go and visit them and could do it on the cheap with a coach from Victoria Station on the ferry to them. Some funds are needed though as we could have a good shopping session in the new area and give the local traders some trade too... they will need winter clothes and some household goods too...  I have a good feel and once Boshra is agile with all the languages she is going to be a good recruit to any company.  The artwork if she is good well there are good markets and galleries to display and sell her work....and we could get some prints to sell, marketing ware and cards to fund-raise too. 

I will not be content until lives rebuilt and in this it gives me the strength to carry on in my life rebuild too after trauma.  Please reader supporter help me with some fundraising ideas, grants, sponsors and donations.  There is so much I can do to help this family with your strength too... and we have a lot to do with Dante and those still in Turkey...... You know we still have a centre idea to follow through with healing and therapies to rebuild lives. if I have the funds I can do so so much!!  I could do with a team to help me but I also have a team with my refugees too.. they are amazing people with a lot to offer host communities.....

this book is written with his compassion..... his family too were refugees........ we can show that refugees have not lost everything they have us to help them they have not lost their dreams to rebuild their lives........ we have amazing people and families with lots of skills, expertise and education all we need are host countries and citizens to reach out as a Global Family link up and help rebuild broken lives......

Justice will come soon for the perpetrators that broke those lives and they will never break the spirit of LOVE CARE AND COMPASSION ..

Link up strength to one another

I have been ill over the last week with fractured tooth pain and need for extraction and the painkillers I had been taken giving me an internal bleed..... I have been weak and in pain could only lay in the warmth of my bed..... over the days what kept me strong was thinking of my refugee family..... Dante was in panic mode worrying about me and contacted my daughter... We have all grown together in strength of love and care for one another over the now nearly three years. 
Today saw Dante had put a post on this facebook about Celine in her lovely bonnet and how loved and blessed he was... He has not held his youngest niece but I have if you remember when I went to Eleonas camp where Boshra was with her new baby Celine, the sister to Princess Leen.. It is so difficult for this family as they are a close knit family and now to be scattered around the world and unable to meet up with one another is so so difficult... thank God for the internet and carers and befrienders like myself!  I now have this family and project link up as my life and gives me life.  

That bonnet is doing good it was given in a bundle of clothes from Carole who has the knitwear stall in in the Pavilions Uxbridge... she loves to see that her love reaches the refugee children.... She will be so pleased to see that Celine is still getting a lot of wear from one of her bonnets she had made.  It is quite strange when you think that this is our Foreign Secretary constituency and he is unaware of the love that is taken to the refugees.  I receive no help from the Foreign Office despite writing to them for recognition for the love and care for this family link up project.  The Shadow Chancellor is aware as he is my MP and I regularly update John on this project and he follows this with care but trying to get me some funding seems impossible as I am not an NGO but an individual with love and care for this need to link up families.  There is so much I could do with a team of helpers.... there is so much that could be done to help rebuild lives and support them on their way to rebuild and one day be allowed to travel to be with one another as their status in the world recognised in host countries.  They give so much of themselves to the care for others in the community where they are and respect and value all the help they are given.
