Photos to share

Princess Celine enjoying an apple....and so pleased the fleece lined dress is getting a lot of wear - was a good purchase in Uxbridge..

So looking forward to being able to visit them in Belgium in the spring... I am practising my French and Dutch speaking to help out too... Finding the Dutch easier to read than to speak but once immersed in the language it will come to me.  I have to keep up with Princess Leen and her language ability.
Boshra sent a photo of Princess Leen last night she is showing off her longer hair but look what I spotted.
Looking like Victoria Beckham... I will have to see if I can get in touch with Victoria... to show her.

I have been experimenting with the photoframes online. Boshra is proud of her girls and I wish I could get them some children wear modelling I have not heard back from Mothercare nor any of the other companies I have contacted... It would be good public relations to keep the spotlight on refugee families and the need to rebuild lives.

Ahmed got his parcel

Dante sent me some photos of Ahmed this evening in Turkey enjoying his parcel surprise.... I just wish I could have had more funds to send more.  But at least got the jumper over to him from Carole's knitwear stall in Uxbridge and a Teddy bear from the local florist shop.. The teddy has been one we have been Skype playing with so wonder if he thinks how did this get to me .... lol early experience of seeing things on screen then them being delivered. Yes he found the reindeer chocolate from Hotel Chocolat... Paddington Station.  I must show the staff this... The parcel post was quick to say I posted on Friday in my Lunch break in Wimbledon while on a training day for the Red Cross.

Evening of sharing with Doctors

Very good evening of talks on healthcare access for refugees.  Useful I have my freedom pass to nip in to London for such useful times of sharing.  This was held in University College London and will be one of a series of talks.  I have learnt so much and experienced a lot over my time with Family Link Up ... I hope one day to be on the platform with some dedicated time to share.  I am very conscious of so much work everyone is doing as part of NGOs or as individuals so good to share and learn together and action plan for improved care and support.  We have a lot of lives to rebuild.  Good to feel Sr Marjorie tonight and who would have know when I first started nursing training in 1978 that my life would be so enriched with this project... But also out of extreme concern for the need for the world to learn to care for one another.  Good to have like minds with a desire to provide humanitarian aid to those in need.
Loved my journey home on the train got sat with two young actors Ben and Ben - we had a good natter on the way home.. Lets hope between the doctors I met tonight and the actors on the way home we can come up with some fundraising ideas for me to continue my work with Family Link Up.

Grandma

Today is my grandson's birthday and in the photos is me with him fifteen years ago born in York District Hospital.... I am always happy with babies in my arms.  I have spent my life as a nurse and midwife... I wish I could have still been in practice to earn for the Family Link Up project... But my career was abruptly stopped with ill health through difficult marriage break up issues. This is another reason why we all click together -  the refugees and me we have all been through traumas and lost all and now need to rebuild our lives. This project is my life and I learn so much.  The project has taken me on quite a journey from travel to Turkey to spending time in Eleonas Camp Athens and being a voice for my refugees in parliament.  I am not naive and have full comprehension of the war and the horrors that many have been through.

I am a graduate nurse midwife with counselling skills.  But I am a mother and grandmother too.  So I blend all this into helping the family.  We have an amazing bond and I am proud to help them all.  The family I help are caring too so help all those around them in need of help. Whatever you give me in donations and funds will be put to good use and exactly to where needed... We have done a lot together but there is more to be done.  Children growing means more clothes, going to school they need more educational materials, they need food. The adults in the family need to build their language skills to get jobs.  The are all well educated and any team or organisation will have good team members and workers.

I would like to visit Boshra in Belgium and see Princess Leen and Princess Celine so I can assess what resources are around them. During this time have some "Grandma" time together baking and drawing and learning together.  I would like to get Boshra sorted with art materials as she is a keen artist so this would be great to get her producing some work. It is more than time for lives to be rebuilt and to blossom to help themselves and the host countries. The family have a lot to offer the host countries for sure. I hope that this year I can return to Turkey too and meet the Grandma of the family.  I am grateful to Turkey to getting her safe as I was worried about her health.  Then there are the family members in Germany that I still have to visit and meet... We have a new baby due in Summer, after a 3 years separation of husband and wife it was to be expected we would have an addition... Takes no midwife to anticipate this fact.. lol

While I was looking in my photo album for photos of Sam as a baby I found this cute one of Olivia one of my granddaughters when she was little and we had a fall of snow in London. She is at college now over her time at school she did a project on refugees.  I actually would like to travel with my grandchildren to visit the family we link up. So lots for me to do this year if I can get the funding.

Birthday Skype call today

Thank goodness for internet and skype when you are apart from family you wish to be with..Just been able to skype Boshra and the girls.  Been Singing Happy Birthday to Princess Leen as today she is 3 years.  Love the way Boshra had fixed her hair and Leen kept showing me the french pleats... Celine was playing too but love this screen capture of Leen as we talk and sing together!

We have come along way with the journey and all thanks to Eleonas Camp, the staff with all the NGOs and the UNHCR for helping to keep people safe and resettle. The way Leen was looking today reminded me of the photo of her when they had arrived in Eleonas camp and the teams were helping everyone.  But we now have a drive to rebuild lives in the host countries. Belgium I thank for housing the family and the family are keen to learn the languages and help find some way to not only rebuild their lives but contribute to the host country economy.  Something many say out of the grateful thanks for the safety and care countries provide.  I am looking forward to visiting in spring for Celine's first birthday to get a feel for how I can help them rebuild in the locality.

Jumper for Ahmed

Spotted this Arran knit jumper on Carole's stall in Uxbridge Pavillons market yesterday.... it is cute like a little fisherman's jumper.  I have this packed to send out to Turkey. I can post it tomorrow with the teddy that I got some weeks ago from our Local florist shop.  I also spotted these two lovely cardigans for Leen.. Carole has put them on one side till I have some more funds to spend.  I hope I can get some help soon with funding as so many needs.  I could have bought all Carole's stock as we have kids in Turkey, the Girls in Belgium and a new baby on the way in Germany... so lots to do... I am also brainstorming some business ideas for Boshra to earn.  Today was on a training day and a follow on tomorrow for the Red Cross...and so many ideas for teaching.  it is just meshing everything together to win and rebuild lives. Dante busy with the community needs too... so we are all committed to healing and rebuilding.

Ahmed Sparkles for us all

Still needing help to get resources for the family in Turkey. They are struggling through with the need for winter fuel and clothes... This little cutie Ahmed would like to get some clothes & more fun toys and educational material to help him.  Would like to get a team of fundraisers together to help me with Family Link Up and rebuild lives.

Love Sparkle

Princess Leen in Love Sparkle as it is nearly her 3rd birthday... the excitement building... Bless her she was born in Sulieman Shah camp in Turkey, then they fled to Greece was in Eleonas Camp.... and thanks to the kindness of Belgium and the UNHCR have the dignity of a home now. So Boshra is keen to give her a good birthday party.  I am unable to get to see her for her birthday as no funds.  I managed to get a few things in the sales yesterday in Uxbridge and have sent a small parcel this morning in the post.  Princess Leen is into the Unicorn magic just like my youngest grand-daughter Errin.... so I found a Unicorn ponies song book with music ... lol Boshra will be loving me.. the music plays over and over again with little fingers pressing buttons.... But last night did a couple of powerpoint slides with voice over for a song and English building. We all laugh last night with the facebook sharing... and was amazing at one point we had skype connections with Turkey and another sister in Germany simultaneously... I love this project and learn and share so much.
I keep thinking and have emailed some companies that the girls could be models for a good children's clothes company.  This would give a spotlight on the needs of refugee children and families to rebuild their lives... So any company reading this get in touch with me.  I am going to keep trying for them all to get chances and opportunities.

Love love love

Turtle Doves full of Love
Took a photo of a lovely card today in the British Library shop as I was waiting for my daughter after some meetings she had there.  Very significant as I have a glint in my eye as a midwife - not surprised the news today from Boshra... No she is not expecting ...but her sister is that was granted permission to join her husband in Germany after 3 years apart. If you remember from the following the story she travelled from Turkey in October... I am feeling a global community midwife now... and look forward to the new arrival.  I hope I can go and visit... in the meantime I am contacting Sabine a friend in Germany to see if she can travel to see Asma.... Boshra was thinking she can send some of the baby clothes that the girls have grown out of now.....
I had to walk through St Pancreas station today on the way to the British Library from the Kings Cross Underground ... I am only a few hours away from Brussels by the Eurostar. I am so frustrated as would like to visit Boshra and the girls to check on the situation and all the resources she can tap into.  My daughter is happy to help towards the fare and there is half price tickets on offer ..but you can choose the date to travel.  Would be good to have a say Wednesday to Sunday over Celine's first birthday.... and of course would need some spending money to get what they all need. Boshra is also planning for Princess Leen's 3yrs old birthday later this month.  Apparently just as my youngest grand daughter she is getting hooked on the Unicorn that is all the fashion at the moment.  Boshra has seen some party wear with the Unicorn on. Can you see the family just want to be a family living as families do.  Was fun today as my daughter messaged Dante when we were having a pizza together in London and sent a photo.  They are connected and it feels good we are truly linking up as a Global family should. I just need some good funding and regular funds to build this project to the maximum and achieve the goal of rebuilding lives.

Small package arrives

Bargain baby vests for Celine arrived with the some chocolate and a card for Leen to put in her bedroom. Good to have the link up even with small packages in the post. The cost of post is more manageable.... and keeps the flow of surprises & much needed things coming..... to feel the constant love and care.....
Boshra was chatting to me last night and she was feeling she would like to send some gift to baby Ahmed in Turkey... He is her nephew and as auntie it is only natural to want to send gifts.   I was thinking dear readers and supporters if you can help with fundraising I could visit Boshra and the girls in the spring for Celine's first birthday and then travel to Turkey to take a gift and check on the family there...... or if not enough funds when with Boshra in Belgium we could package something to send by post.....
So frustrated without substantial funding and regular donations.... as there is so much I could do......

I am tapping into free courses online and presently on a three week course with the European University Institue on the FutureLearn platform.  This is looking generally at why do people migrate and has good modules on the Syrian refugee crisis.... I am learning but realising I have a lot to offer too.. as with Family Link Up project I have learnt and experienced a lot through the journey of befriending.  As a retired professional it my norm to research and learn and observe and make out action plans to help elevate problems and pain.   So you will see that while I blend in family love and care for my Family Link Up I do look at the wider issues too. I wish I could get funding for all I do.. as there is so much more I can do and develop with the help of my refugee families too! They are themselves a resource to tap into .. with many skills and much expertise.
Any gifts you want to pass on to my Family Link Up project contact me!

Kids having fun in Turkey and Belgium

Ahmed looking the Disco man in Turkey with Dantes headphones.. makes me proud that the funding got Dante the laptop and headphones a couple of years ago and still going strong.  The lap top is helping Dante with his studying, journalism and creative writing. I see that Celine is now wearing the clothes that Leen used to fit into... and it will please Amira's mother, from Wembly, that gave all her clothes to me to take out to Eleonas camp.. she will see that the clothes are still going strong and now being used by Celine.   Good to see the children happy today....
If you have any ideas on fundraising let me know, and if you got too many Christmas presents you do not want and would like me to send out to my family link then contact me... and still needing funds for fuel in Turkey.
